Found On The InterNERD: Sand Castles

Alright boys and girls, InterNERD is back! Summer is officially here this month. When you are on the beach checking out chicks and trying not to get sunburn, remember that sand itself can be pretty impressive. Sand castles are a serious deal for some artists and sand castle sculpture groups. Here are the coolest, nerdiest sand castles I found on the InterNERD.

Nintendo Sand Castle. Amazing sand sculpture titled: I Am 8 Bit shows some of Nintendo’s greatest. Created by artist Guy Oliver Deveau, check out his gallery.

E.T. Sand Castle. Aw this E.T. looks depressed, maybe cause he can’t phone home.

Darwin Sand Castle. This impressive Charles Darwin depicts his most famous evolution from monkey to man. This was done by artist Jamie Wardley.

King Kong Sand Castle. Alright Darwin, how do you explain Kong now?

Monty Python Sand Castle. The English comedy troupe that paved the way for a lot of absurd comedy. This sculpture was made by artist James F. Clay.

Wallace and Gromit Sand Castle. Usually made out of clay, here Wallace and Gromit got a sand makeover.

Hellraiser Sand Castle. Pinhead is here to break up the cuteness of all these sand sculptures. This sculpture from the depths of hell was created by Helena Bangart.

Star Wars Sand Castle. These are the droids you are looking for. Great detail with this one. C-3PO’s mid section looks amazing.

Alien Vs Bender Sand Castle. Very awesome mash-up of Alien and Futurama’s Bender. Created by Carl Jara, and won 1st place at a 2010 sand sculpture competition.

So many hours you can see donated into these amazing sculptures. Makes me want to grab a shovel & a bucket and head to the beach. Do you have a nerdy sand castle you want to share.
